We're Hosting a School Supply Drive on August 26 & September 2 for Students in Need
Donations Needed as Calgary’s Poverty Rate Climbed During the Pandemic
According to a study by Vibrant Communities Calgary, an estimated additional 77,000 Calgarians have fallen into poverty during the pandemic, marking a 40 percent increase in people under the poverty line in the city.As children prepare to head back to school, 4Seasons Transportation is addressing this need by hosting a city-wide school supply drive on Thursday, August 26 and September 2 between 8 am and 5 pm at 4Seasons’ headquarters (#102 85 Freeport Blvd NE). These donations will directly support kids in need at Calgary schools and nonprofits focused on students with disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy Kids and Families, Ups and Downs Society, and Society for the Treatment of Autism.Calgarians are encouraged to donate the following new school supplies:
- Backpacks, lunch kits and pencil cases
- Binders, coiled notebooks, report covers, lined paper and graph paper
- Pens, markers, highlighters, pencil crayons, crayons, pencils and pencil sharpeners
- Glue, whiteout, rulers, calculators, and sanitizing wipes
As an industry leader for transporting students with disabilities, the goal of this drive is to help set students up for a successful school year while removing barriers preventing kids from participation and successful learning.
“At 4Seasons Transportation, our work goes far beyond transporting students safely. We’re dedicated to helping all students thrive,” says Brooke Garcia, CEO of 4Seasons Transportation. “We wanted to collect school supplies to help create equal opportunities for all children, which in turn creates brighter futures.”
To donate, drop off school supplies between 8 am and 5 pm on August 26 or September 2 at #102 85 Freeport Blvd NE. For more information call 587-777-0705 or send us an email.
